Golden Writings from Sweden

I've had a horrible week; truly, I have.  With my computer broken being lent this laptop by my Mum and having only limited internet, I'm not having all that much fun on the net as I normally do.  I can't look up the amount of sites I usually do and I feel as though I'm missing out on a great many things.
However, I felt very much in the loop the other day when I checked the PO Box and found a parcel pick-up card.  I thought a prize from America had arrived (as I had won a book on another site).  But it was a surprise from Sweden of a much-sought-after book I had been hunting down for years.  I must thank Deepswamp for sending this wonderful book to me in memory of Oppem, a wonderful Bookcrosser who recently passed away suddenly.  This book had been on her Wish List - as well as mine - and he sent this book for the 'Oppem RABCK'.  I didn't know this was on, otherwise I would have taken part.  I hope it's not too late by the time I get another computer.  Until then, thank you again, Deepswamp for 'The Golden Notebook' by Doris Lessing.  I do look forward to reading this great masterpiece by a brilliant writer.

A Bag of Books From Dancesports!

Now, it's not often I receive a bag of books just because somebody feels like sending one.  But today, one arrived at the post office for me and I was absolutely surprised by it!  In it were five books that were right down my alley in my reading area and I must say that one of them was off my wish list on Bookcrossing.  Now, that's just brilliant!
Thank you so much, Dancesports for sending me these books; you're just wonderful!  I really didn't expect anything in return for sending those books to you.  But you've really made my day as I've been suffering from the most dreadful hayfever for the last week and have just gotten my voice back!

MacGyver Strikes Again!

Yesterday, I was so busy that I didn't get a chance to post this thank you for a book that showed up in my PO Box.  It's titled 'What Would MacGyver do?' by Brendan Vaughan.  I was a big fan of the television show and so thought this would be a cool, light little read of stories where people have had little to nothing to work with to get themselves out of sticky situations; and they've had to MacGyver their way out, thinking of the most interesting and - if not insane - ways to making do with what they have.
Thank you so much Bkind2books for sending this one to me as part of your 400+ registered books RABCK.  I'm looking forward to sticking my nose between its pages; even if it's a little on the corny side.

A Kalman RABCK from Western Australia

Today, I woke to a dull morning. Before 8am, it was drizzling with rain and I knew it wasn't going to get any better than this; and I had to go out. So, I ate breakfast and took the walk to the chemist, checked out the thrift shop for a book that was falling apart (and I found one perfect for my collage I have in mind) and found another really nice book by Stephen Fry. Then, I headed to the post office. Inside the PO Box, I found a blue pick-up card and so I went inside and did just that. I was handed a 3kg Australia Post satchel. At first, I thought it was my book baggie I had going around Australia; and thought it had returned kinda light and really quick (because goofbunny is the last person on that list). Then, when I got it home, I got Stevie out of her cage, sat her on my shoulder and opened the parcel. Inside was another parcel which I opened carefully. Once I got it opened, the bird and I found three beautifully wrapped books with an envelope that had been sealed with wax! We slipped out from between the wrapped parcels two sheets of books labels with Stevie's cute little face on it from my Bookcrossing bookshelf! How wonderfully cute is that?

Goofbunny! I gotta say, thank you very much for this! I wasn't expecting all this from you. Not only were there three books: 'Parrot and Olivier in America' by Peter Carey, 'Psycho House' by Robert Bloch and 'I Sing The Body Electric' by Ray Bradbury; but there was a pair of watermelon ear rings, two magnets, a bookmark with a carrot reading a book in an easy-chair, some gift tags and a strip of Ballycumber stickers. What a parcel! I love it! And two of the books are hard covers! Thank you again!

A RABCK from Juli2007!

In the mail today, I wasn't expecting much; actually there's usually an empty box looking at me most Friday's. So, when I found a medium-sized envelope looking at me, I was very surprised and pulled it out. On opening it, I found it was was from Juli2007!

Inside it was a collection of stickers, Dr Sues stickers, labels, alphabet stickers, postcards, bookmarks (homemade and bought ones) and cute post-it notes too! What a wonderful lot of things I can use and give to my niece as well (the horse stickers are the ones she'll really go for!). Thank you again for your wonderful RABCK that you offered up on the RABCK Forum! All these things will come in handy.
