From The Netherlands.

I'm always amazed what comes in the post this close to Christmas. And seeing Loey and Dad's mail is being sent to my address while their on holidays, I'm astounded they're getting so many cards! Anyway, this little beauty came in the mail today from Dettie in The Netherlands. What a wonderful surprise! I love receiving surprises in the mail; no matter the size.

Thank you so much for this beautiful Christmas Card, Dettie. I'll be adding it to the rest of them on the top of the piano. Merry Christmas to you and I hope it's not snowing too much where you are.

The Secret Santa Strikes Again!

Wow! Today, the PO Box was crammed full of letters, Christmas cards and bills (of course, they have to make life less fun at this time of year and keep our feet on the ground by slapping us with electricity and gas bills just before Christmas Day!). But, in amongst it all, I saw a blue parcel pick-up card. So, inside I went and there was a 3kg bag for me from Juli2007! I opened it before I went home and it was full of wrapped up books and goodies!

However, once home, I pulled them all out and was too excited to wait for the Big Day (seeing it's only a few days away; and I'm going to the coast on that day as well. I'll be very busily packing last minute things), I decided to open them now and show my appreciation for the gifts now. Also, if there was anything that could melt in it, I didn't want that to happen either - like chocolate or other foods. Thank you so much for the gaily-wrapped gifts and soaps, Juli2007! I love them very much! The only big decision now is: which one to read first!

A Surprise Card from Tasmania!

Today has been a dreadfully wet day - as has the last two days. And when I checked the PO Box it was full of Loey and Dad's redirected mail and my own. So, there I was sorting out my mail and theirs at the wall of PO Boxes and found two cards for me. One was from a couple who have known me since I was little and holidayed with me at Brunswick; and they now live in Toowoomba, unable to make the long trek to New South Wales. The other one was from Glenytasmania.

Both of the cards really made my day a lot brighter; if not dryer because of their arrival. I really appreciate the thoughtful gesture of the small things that arrive in the mail; as any mail is good mail from you guys.

From Heartthumper.

All this week, I haven't received any parcels or cards from anyone in the mail; just bank statements and junk mail. Then, today, I received this beautiful card with Bookcrossing postcards enclosed. This really made my day after all the running around I've been doing this week; and it's absolutely gorgeous too, making me wish I was having a white Christmas like some of you are having in the Northern Hemisphere.

Thank you very much heartthumper for sending this beautiful card to me. It made it before Christmas; and just as Australia Post is going through pay disputes and strike action too. How fortunate it squeezed through when it did!

From Texas-Wren!

Today is another hot day; and so, I went off to the post office to get everything done and picked up early at 9am. On opening my PO Box, I was greeted by a red envelope and a blue parcel pick-up card. At this time of year, I receive more of these blue cards than any other time; and so I look forward to this time of year; it's a lot of fun too! While standing in line, I opened the card and found it is a gorgeous Christmas card from Texas-Wren!
Now, here in Australia, we don't get snow at Christmas; and I only dream of seeing through a White Christmas at least once in my life (seriously I do!). And receiving all of these cards with snow on them is just wonderful! Thank you so much, Texas-Wren for posting this card to me. It'll be joining the growing collection on the piano.

Romanian Chocolates and Calendar

Also in the mail today, I found a parcel pick-up card; a blue one. So, I didn't have to sign for it. So, I went into the post office and was handed a well-taped up parcel, which I pulled apart and it was wrapped up again. Well, I thought to leave it until I returned home from shopping; and I'm thankful I did. Inside this wrapped up parcel is a calendar, a box of chocolate (which had begun to melt in the Summer heat; and are now chilling out in the freezer for later on tonight) and a lovely card with cats on the front.
This card was bought to aid in the protection for cats. In purchasing this card - and others like it - elviraro has helped people assist 140,000 cats every year. To find out more about this worthy cause, I'll put the link to this site on the sidebar.

Thank you again for this beautiful HGG and the calendar of monasteries. I look forward to having it by my bed or downstairs in the lounge room on the piano.

From Norway!

I believe that the best things come in small packages. And this one was just a postcard of a beautiful snow-covered scene with a Robin on it; something we don't see very much here in Queensland. And I have Tanumine to thank for this beautiful card; which made its way from Norway; cooling my day off today (it reached a sticky 35 degrees Celsius! Thankfully, there's a breeze!).

Thank you again for your thoughtfulness. This card will be joining the others on my piano for the Christmas Season until I return home from Brunswick Heads in the New Year.

Secret Angels Time!

This arrived yesterday and I didn't have time to upload it. So, here I am doing it now. And I took it over to Loey's place to agonise whether to open it or not; and as you can see, I opened it because curiosity killed the cat (but satisfaction brought it back - as it's quote in SK's 'Dreamcatcher'). Today, I was off shopping, so this was the only time I've had to record what I've received in the last two days. I also replaced the velveteen on the old sewing table to use as a background for my blogs; doesn't it look gorgeous?

Anyway, I'd love to thank simplyreflected for sending me these beautiful books, the bookmark, the keyring calculator (which works too!), ornament and beautiful card too as well as the booklet of recipes from New Zealand. They all look delicious!

Aussie Secret Santa Pressie Arrives!

Yes! You read right! My very large Australian Secret Santa parcel arrived today! And what a parcel! I opened it at the post office and it was chock full of books - with one beautifully wrapped one too! That one has been left for Christmas Day; as living alone, I don't get that many gifts on the day. So, you'll all have to wait until the big day for me to open it... sorry.
I have found ten books in this 3kg bag! Ten! Wow! that is so cool! If you count the wrapped-up book for Christmas, that's eleven. So, thank you very much to my Secret Santa, who has gone to all this trouble to post this off before Christmas to me. You're a wonderful and thoughtful person.

From Austria!

Now, the two parcel collection cards had to be taken into the post office (and I had Christmas Card for the ladies and the owner there for their patience and kindness over this year too. I have been doing this for the past year or so).
This first parcel is from Releanna. Thank you so much for making up the miniature photo album with my family's photos in it. How did you do that? It's so beautiful! I'll be taking it to the coast with me this Christmas. And there's also a Christmas Card (which is now on top of the piano too!) and some Austrian chocolate/sweets that I've put into the freezer to keep cold (yes, it's been very hot here lately). The little ornament has been put onto the tree.

Thank you so much much for you lovely and beautiful gifts. They are absolutely lovely and I'll be using the album long after Christmas.

More Christmas Cards!

I love this time of year; when the mailbox gets all crowded with great stuff from everyone I love. And today, I found two parcel collect cards and three Christmas cards. One is from a dear friend I've known for a very long and time and he's almost 90; and has been a poet and a writer for as long as I've known him. The other two are from Bookcrossers; and here they are!

This first tall one is from Wombles and I just love it. Thank you so much for this one. Look at the colour and simplicity of it; just gorgeous! This one has joined the others on the piano; along with the next one!

The second one is from a mystery sender in Geneva. I couldn't translate the name (sorry about that). However, if you're the one who sent it, thank you so much! It's the global message it holds in many languages; yet one as well; as it all means the same thing. I love to receive Christmas cards from all over the world from any Bookcrosser.

From Finland!

I was going out to do my Christmas Shopping today and received a card in the mail. Well, I collected that and a parcel (which turned out to be my 'Beach Babylon' Bookring that was due back!) . While waiting for the bus, I opened the card and was greeted by the most adorable site! Three polar bears with glittering Santa hats on in the snow! And that's not all! The by purchasing this card, some of the money goes to Marie Curie Cancer Care which provides high quality free nursing care to terminally ill people who - by choice - are dying at home supported by their families. What a wonderful cause; as not everyone wishes to pass away in the sterile cleanliness of a hospital away from the comforts of home.

Thank you very much Sobergirl for sending me this very beautiful card with your heart in the right spot this Christmas; in more ways than one. I'll put the site for this organisation on the sidebar for you all to have a look if you wish.

Chocolate From Across The Miles!

Today being Wednesday, I normally don't get any mail. Australia is such a large country and it's usually a day where there's just junk mail in the PO Box. But what I found in there along with the normal junk mail was an envelope from Classicfox! Once home, I opened it and pulled out Cadbury Royal Dark Chocolate and the most beautiful postcard with kids on the front (no, not children, billy-kid goats).

This will be put into the freezer for tonight (yeah, I freeze my chocolate as it's hot here that the fridge isn't good enough) for after dinner when I have my green tea! Thank you so much again for this lovely chocolate.

And It's Christmas Card Season!

Don't you just love Christmas? No matter where you live, everyone puts up a tree, decorations, and we all give presents to each other. It's all about giving and receiving and being nice to each other; not just the belief of the Holy Spirit. And even though I'm not a church-goer, I enjoy giving more than anything else at this time of year as it makes me feel good to do so.

And today, I received my first Christmas cards through the mail! But instead of doing an individual post for each one, I thought one big post for all of them would be a good start! Okay. here goes:

The first one I opened was from benschu in Lubeck, Germany. It's a beautiful hand-made card with blue stars on it. And I love hand-made things (as it says on my wish list!) So benschu, you've killed two birds with one stone here! And just look at that envelope! It's covered in stars. I didn't think of photographing the back of it as it's got
stars all over the back too! Beautiful! Thank you again!

The next one was from Bookworm2525 in Puyallup, WA in America. And seeing I haven't seen snow since I was 19, it definitely brings back memories of when I went through Arthur's Pass in the South Island of NZ. It was cold and we had fun throwing snowballs everywhere! However, I've never seen a white Christmas before. So, that's something I'd like to do before I get too old. Thank you so much for this beautiful card!

This third card, I thought to leave until last as it's hand-stitched. The addressee on the back was annenz from Greymouth, NZ; however it was signed by both annenz and simplyreflected on the card. And just look at how much work went into this one! It's a counting cross-stitch Christmas design! You guys have put so much work in to this, I just have to thank you very much for it! It's so pretty and must have taken you ages!

So, there you have it! The first three Christmas cards for the season. They are going to be taking pride of place on my piano; soon to be joined by others in the coming weeks.
